The Consejo de Acreditación de la Enseñanza de la Ingeniería, (Accreditation Council for Engineering Education or CACEI for its initials in Spanish), is an accrediting body acknowledged by the Consejo para la Evaluación de la Educación Superior, A. C., (COPAES for its initials in Spanish). Formally founded on July 5th 1994, CACEI is the oldest accrediting body established in Mexico. CACEI’s top governing body is the Associates Committee; in this committee engineering schools, associations that represent professional or higher education institutions, the federal government represented by the Dirección General de Profesiones belonging in SEP as well as the productive sector through the corresponding chambers take part.
CACEI has country presence practically in every educational sub-system where engineering is taught. It holds an automatic on-line information system which registers and files all information related to accreditation processes, which aids Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in their processes. This way, CACEI assists to improving engineering teaching quality and supplies opportune, relevant and objective information, which is high value for HEIs, students, teachers, graduates, employers and parents. All in all, the objective driving out activities is to assist, from within our environment, to improve higher education teaching quality in the engineering field.
